PETER HOWARD AM is the author of new release Maestro of Madness a powerful novel which tackles some of society’s most challenging issues – child abuse and post-traumatic stress – as well as the often complicated nature of family and relationships.
Writing has always been a passion for Peter, from the start of his career in the hotel, restaurant and catering world 50 years ago. He has penned numerous newspaper and magazine columns, 18 cookbooks and several textbooks.
He was a culinary commentator on Australian radio for three decades and a familiar face on TV screens for two – first as the celebrity chef on the Nine Network’s The Midday Show with Ray Martin and then as food editor of the network’s breakfast program TODAY.
Peter is well-known for his many cooking demonstrations at Sydney’s Royal Easter Show and Brisbane’s Ekka and for his extensive promotion of Australian food, wine and culture overseas. In 2018 he was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia medal for his culinary tourism work.
Born in Brisbane in Queensland and raised in Beaudesert via St George, he was Sydney based for many years before moving back to his home state. He now resides on Brisbane’s bayside.
